Demand for mentoring, training, and networking among firms in emerging markets is increasing just as fast as their need for financing. South African newspaper Business Day ran several features in January and March of this year on an NGO group's success in providing nonfinancial advisory services. The international nonprofit organization, called Endeavor, started out in Chile eight years ago and first extended its services to South American emerging markets, before expanding operations to South Africa, with IFC assistance, around 2004. Endeavor's experience provides a helpful look into what small businesses need to build up their capacity.
