Private Capital at Work for EM Microbusinesses

Private sector interest in supporting microfinance in emerging markets has been a growing trend in the past few years and is currently picking up speed as a hot topic. The Center for Global Development is hosting MicroCredit Enterprises CEO Jonathan Lewis on March 31 in Washington, D.C. He will discuss a not-for-profit business model for leveraging private capital to make microfinance loans in developing countries.

Financing Companies in Emerging Markets

Private and corporate investors, as well as government policy makers in emerging markets, are among those expected to attend the highly relevant "Financing Corporations In Emerging Markets" conference to be held at World Bank headquarters in late March. Nobel Laureate in Economics Joseph Stiglitz --a former WB Chief Economist-- will be the keynote speaker at the conference, hosted by the World Bank in partnership with the University of Virginia, among others.

The conference promises high-quality research for company CFOs and treasurers, as well as for public sector policy makers with responsibility in market regulation, transparency, governance, and promotion of foreign investments in their economies.
